SPAR Veggie Girasoli Spinat-Cashew recalled in Austria due to peanut contamination

If you have recently bought a vegan pasta product at a SPAR supermarket in Austria called SPAR Veggie Girasoli Spinach-Cashew 250g (aka SPAR Veggie Girasoli Spinat-Cashew 250g), the company has just recalled the product due to contamination with peanuts.

The possible peanut contamination was discovered during a routine quality control operation, and was found in the SPAR Veggie Girasoli Spinat-Cashew 250g that has a Best By date of June 3rd, 2024.

The company has, therefore, decided to recall any of the product that has a Best By date of April 28th to June 10th, 2024 as a precautionary measure.

The affected product has also been withdrawn from SPAR-owned stores.

Be aware, though, this does not affect any other SPAR products or pasta — whether they are SPAR or other brands.

Should you still have a SPAR Veggie Girasoli Spinat-Cashew 250g product, you can return it to any SPAR, EUROSPAR, INTERSPAR or Maximarkt for a full refund, without even being required to provide a receipt.

In a press release today, SPAR has also provided their email — office@spar.at and their toll-free number — 0800/22 11 20 — should you have any questions or comments.

Of course, if you don’t have a peanut allergy, this likely isn’t as much of a concern, but anyone with a peanut allergy should definitely not consume the SPAR product.

Either way, you should return the product for a full refund.
