Where to buy cheap baby supplies in Vienna, Austria – diapers, formula, food, wipes, shampoo and more

Diapers at DM Drogerie in Vienna

If you want to buy baby products in Vienna, Austria, you will find them in a plethora of supermarkets, large and small stores, and other shops just like you would in your home town.

But, if you are looking for baby items that are cheap and excellent quality, I have three Vienna stores I can recommend you shop at before going anywhere else.

Although the third one is my personal favorite.

Hofer (ie: Austria’s Aldi)

The Austrian supermarket Hofer (find out much more about Hofer here) has locations all over the Austrian capital city, with a total of close to 500 stores nationwide, and with a huge number of those located in Vienna.

While Hofer does not carry a big selection of baby products, what they do sell are extremely affordable and always superb quality.

Baby diapers and wipes at Hofer in Vienna, Austria

At most Hofer stores, for instance, you can buy diapers (nappies for the British among you), baby formula, baby food, cereal, baby snacks, juice, baby wipes and a variety of other baby-related products.

Be aware, however, most of Hofer’s baby supplies are either their own private label products, or only a small selection of branded products, so don’t expect to buy many branded baby supplies you may be familiar with here.

Follow-on milk (folgemilch), baby cereal and jars of baby food at Hofer. All are organic and all are cheap — especially the baby food at 95 cents a jar

For a quick stop for basic baby supplies in Vienna, Austria, however, you can’t go wrong, as you can buy a 2-pack of 80-count baby wipes for €1,98, organic cereal for as low as €2,39 and jars of organic baby food for as cheap as 95 cents. (Note: Any food item you see labeled ‘bio’ in Austria means the product is organic).

Especially as you can buy your own food and drink, along with basic household and beauty supplies, and even alcohol at the same time.

My only annoyance with Hofer is that some stores do not seem to be as well-managed as others, so shelves can be a little disorganized and messy. But, if that doesn’t bother you, their products are excellent quality and very affordable.

You can search Hofer’s website for all the baby products they carry.

Baby food at a BIPA store in Vienna, Austria

BIPA

BIPA is a chain drugstore with branches all over Vienna and one that carries an extensive selection of baby supplies.

They include formula, diapers (nappies), baby cereal, fruit juices, stewed fruit, jars of baby food, wipes, baby bottles, sippy cups, pacifiers (dummies), teething rings, sun protection creams, and small bath toys.

BIPA also sells brand names like Pampers and HiPP.

Prices here are usually higher than at Hofer (not on everything and sometimes they’re cheaper), but still very affordable and, with locations all over Vienna, they are easy to find.

Unlike its direct competitor DM, which is a German company, BIPA is Austrian so, if you want to support an Austrian company, BIPA is a good choice.

Along with branded baby products, they also offer their own private label baby products too — look for labels like BABYWELL, BI KIDS, and BI LIFE if you’re interested. Particularly as they will be cheaper than branded products.

And, with over 500 locations in Austria, and many of those in Vienna, you shouldn’t find it difficult to find a BIPA for all your baby product needs.

Learn more about BIPA’s baby products and find the closest store in Vienna to your location on their website.

It’s in German, but if you run it through Google Translate, it’s easy to understand.

Baby formula at DM in Vienna

DM Drogerie in Vienna

Now DM is my favorite drugstore in Vienna, and it’s where I buy most of my toiletries and beauty supplies.

But, if you are looking for cheap but excellent quality baby products in Vienna, you cannot go wrong with DM either as they have the largest selection out of the three companies I mention here.

You will also find pacifiers, plastic baby bottles and small toys at branches of DM Drogerie

Like the other two, DM sells baby food, diapers, cereal, formula, jars of baby food, juice, stewed fruit, baby snacks, pacifiers, sippy cups, shampoos and bath soaps, baby powder, and just about any other baby item you would need for a trip to Vienna — or even if you are new in town but living here.

One thing I love about DM is their prices tend to be lower than BIPA (not for everything), and their selection of baby products is even higher.

Packets of healthy fruit smoothies and stewed fruit snacks, for instance, are as low as 75 to 85 cents.

DM has a big selection of healthy, and usually organic, fruit snacks for babies as well

Their own brand — BabyLove — is also excellent, and even offers a huge selection of organic baby products (bio) at very affordable prices.

The company is also known for treating both its employees and its customers well, with the owner wanting to provide customers with the lowest possible price while still providing a high quality product.

Find every DM location in Vienna via their website.

And those are three excellent companies offering a very good selection of cheap and high quality baby products in Vienna, with locations everywhere in the city.

Most Austrians also speak excellent English, so if you’re struggling with the German names of products or have a question about their ingredients, you should be able to easily find someone in all three stores who can help.

Happy shopping!
