Anyone that visits Vienna, Austria during the winter months knows it gets pretty darn cold. Since I moved to Vienna a few months ago, though, I have used the cold weather as an excuse to eat hot soup wherever and whenever I can.
But where can you find the best soup in Vienna? For me, it is the amazing pumpkin soup that is served at a tiny vegetarian and vegan restaurant called Nice Rice. Not only is it just about the best pumpkin soup in Vienna, it is also the best pumpkin soup I have ever eaten. Anywhere.
Nice Rice serves a combination of Iranian, Indian and Austrian food and it is all absolutely delicious. They have excellent breakfasts, some amazing lunches and, if you just want to drop in for a tea or coffee and a homemade pastry, they have those too.
Prices too are cheap, with an absolutely enormous bowl of pumpkin soup (so big, my stomach hurt when I left), a side basket of bread to dip in it and a huge glass of hot tea was only 8 euros.
And, yes, I highly recommend their teas — they are so delicious.
Nice Rice is open Monday through Saturday from 10am to 7pm, you will find them at Mariahilferstraße 45, in the Raimundhof in Vienna.
