Conchita Wurst mural at the Museums Quartier in Vienna — Photo of the Day

Today’s photo of the day is a new mural of Austria’s current most famous person — singer Conchita Wurst.

The mural is a temporary piece that went up this week outside Vienna’s Museum’s Quartier and was painted by Australian artist Lushsux. He did tag the Austrian diva on his Instagram account to try to get her down to MQ to have a selfie taken with him, but it doesn’t appear as though she ever showed up. Then again, it is summer and Conchita’s creator Tom Neuwirth probably has her on hiatus for a while.

As for Luchsux, he is known for his huge murals that pop up in various cities around the world, as well as for being an artist that was chosen by Banksy for an exhibition in the UK a couple of years ago.

And, although Luchsux is not the first person to paint a Conchita Wurst mural and he probably will not be the last, it’s still nice to see he chose her as one of his subjects for this MQ series. Then again, how could you come to Vienna and not?

If you like murals and street art, you will love Vienna as this kind of artwork pops up everywhere.
