A music playlist for a hot Vienna summer

A music playlist for a hot Vienna summer

As a former radio DJ, I’d have a hard time living without good music.

Music also features quite heavily in my day-to-day activities as I wander around Vienna photographing buildings, meeting friends for coffee, shopping, exercising, hitting the museums — as much of it is done with music blaring on my headphones. Music that fits how I feel about being in Vienna.

Of course, there being so much music out there to listen to, my playlist changes on a weekly basis.

But my current playlist, I think, is so perfect for a hot Vienna summer I just had to share.

Because it includes music from Vienna’s own Conchita Wurst, Charlywood, Virginia Ernst, Der Nino aus Wien, Clara Blume, Julian Le Play, Lylit and Momo — all Austrian artists that should be getting more attention than they are — as well as international artists like The Sundays, The War on Drugs, Coldplay, Radio Head, Revolverheld, Unheilig, Andreas Bourani and Death Cab for Cutie.

If you’re a paid up Spotify member grab the playlist below and fire it up when you too are wandering around this amazing city in the summer heat. Otherwise, listen to it at home while you try to stay cool. It’s just as fabulous.

Because it gets you in a mood — an ecstatic, happy, introspective and sad mood — as yes, my playlist runs the gamut of emotions. After all, that’s how Vienna makes me feel.
